Our 25-minute cable car ride from Tung Chung took us straight to the entrance of the Ngong Ping Village, a culturally-themed village designed to reflect the cultural and spiritual integrity of the Ngong Ping area. When we stepped out of the cable car station, I actually gasped at the view! Everything looked so pretty and charming, it felt like we’d stepped back to another place and time! There is a wide array of shops, eateries, and tea houses offering a delightful local shopping and dining experiences. I especially loved the Bodhi wishing shrine, so named because Siddhartha meditated on “Who am I and why am I here?”, attained enlightenment, and became Buddha under the Bodhi tree, giving birth to a legend that wishes made at the shrine under the Bodhi tree, the “Tree of Awakening” will come true.
