Here’s the perfect example of the speed of urban transformation in Singapore. When I first arrived in 2002, Marina Bay was a stretch of coast line filled with modest steamboat eateries. There was practically nothing else to see or do there. Now it is the extension of the Central Business District, a thriving and bustling area where state-of-the-art commercial and residential buildings, nature, fashion, arts, and entertainment converge, all connected by a promenade and timber boardwalk along the bay. During the day, there are a lot of cool and breezy shelters for you to appreciate the view from, and at night, the whole bay and Singapore skyline is lit with light.

To add to the visual treat, have I mentioned The Helix pedestrian bridge, inspired by the double-helix structure of the DNA? Marina Bay, now you’re just showing off.
